Rider Requirements
All Jackson County Public Transit riders are expected to behave respectfully while riding the bus. Actions that distract the driver, disrupt service or interfere with other passengers are not allowed. Violent, illegal or unsafe behavior is prohibited. Riders should follow posted rules and directions from transit staff to help ensure a safe and comfortable trip for everyone.
Disruptive Behavior as related to this policy includes actions that interfere with the safe and orderly operation of a transit vehicle or facility. These actions include things like:

Physical violence or threats toward passengers or employees

Harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory behavior

Actions that prevent the driver from safely operating the vehicle

Destruction or defacement of transit property

Behavior that creates an unsafe or hostile environment
Behavioral Expectations Passengers must:

Follow operator instructions at all times

Remain seated while the vehicle is in motion (unless boarding/alighting)

Maintain personal hygiene that does not unreasonably interfere with other passengers’ use of the service

Refrain from using abusive, obscene, or threatening language

Avoid loud, unruly, or physically aggressive behavior
Rider Rules and Responsibilities
Seat Belts
Riders must wear seat belts and remain seated while the bus is in motion. Remove seat belts only after the bus has come to a complete stop.
Driver Limitations
Drivers may not sign riders in or out of facilities, handle medication, assist with restroom use, or enter riders’ homes.
Personal Belongings
Riders are responsible for their own belongings. Riders are limited to 8 grocery bags.
Gifts & Tips
Drivers may not accept gifts or tips.
Fragrance
Please limit use of perfumes or colognes.
Animals
Service animals and animals secured in a carrier, by a leash and/or a muzzle as needed for safety, are welcome.
Conduct
Loud, abusive, rude, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Riders must maintain orderly conduct; drivers are not responsible for mediating disputes.
Prohibited Activities
No smoking, vaping, eating, or drinking on the bus. Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited within 20 feet of the vehicle.
Weapons
Weapons, explosives, and large knives are strictly prohibited.
Surveillance
Buses may be equipped with audio and video recording for safety.
